This trip will feature a lightly structured curriculum with unique personal offerings. Here is a sampling:
CERAMIC ART EXPERIENCE with Founding Secretary Julie Sutton. Julie finds inspiration in the natural colors, shapes, textures, and lines of the world, striving to capture and release these elements in her art. She first discovered the joy of working with clay in high school. Skill was never the focus; happiness and creativity came from the moldable, impermanence of the medium—anything was possible, anything could happen, anything could be made. Later, when she became a raft guide, she realized that being on the river gave her the same feeling as working with clay—moments of being fully present, instinctive, and in tune with her senses, much like enjoying a sunset or navigating a rapid. Julie hopes to offer the same experience on this river trip: an opportunity to express yourself, create lasting memories, and be fully immersed in nature.
JEREMY ANN ANDERSON will offer a holistic experience that nourishes both body and mind. “As a facilitator, I will lead morning yoga sessions designed to gently stretch and ground participants, helping them connect with their breath and body in preparation for the day’s adventures. I’ll also guide meditation practices and pranayama (breathwork), encouraging inner calm and centeredness. Additionally, I’ll share Ayurvedic principles to help align the group with nature’s rhythms and support overall well-being. Through these practices, I aim to create a nurturing space where our board members and participants can deepen their connection to themselves, each other, and the mission of uplifting and empowering women in the whitewater community. It’s an opportunity to blend movement, mindfulness, and the energy of the river to inspire and refresh all who take part.”
TAI CHI with founding WWoW Treasurer JESS RANSOM. At camp (tea & tai chi (yang style) -better in the morning but can certainly offer maybe a sun down practice. Tai chi for me has been a pivotal practice. Has taught me how to ground and float at the same time. Moving energy throughout and around one’s body in a smooth manner- reeling silk. This practice can teach you to be like water, dancing with the many currents of the rivers of life. Also, On water teachings (water reading/basic hydrology/individualized row instruction.)
